A natural way to energize!

We all know how it feels to crash from a sugar rush, feeling suddenly lethargic and unmotivated after that candy bar you just ate. What we may not realize is that this energy crash is due to the unhealthy effect of high-sugar foods on our blood sugar levels. By eating meals composed of low glycemic index carbohydrates, proteins and healthy fats, you can keep your blood sugar levels balanced and sustained throughout the day.

When it comes to eating for sustained energy, the best way to keep up your strength is by maintaining regular meal times - roughly every four hours. Not only will you prevent any big drops in your energy levels, but also keep yourself nourished and energized for as long as possible. Eating nutritious foods with complex carbohydrates, lean proteins, fiber-rich vegetables and fruits and small amounts of healthy fats will ensure you stay fueled for longer periods of time without having those pesky mid-day energy dips.

Sugary snacks and beverages are definitely tempting options for quick pick-me-ups throughout the day; however, the rush that follows often results in an inevitable crash - a serious detriment to your productivity levels! By consciously opting for healthier food choices throughout the day, you'll be sure to enjoy sustained energy with no slump in sight.

To optimize your daily energy level, try adding some of these foods into your meal plan:

  • Oatmeal

  • Bananas

  • Yogurt

  • Sesame Seeds

  • Cinnamon

  • Water (of course!)

  • Avocados

  • Brown rice

  • Dates

  • Cashews

  • Sweet Potatoes
